They take at least 3 to 4 days to make a 10-meter of silk fabric. And each skilled tribal woman weaves around 10 Tussar silk sarees in a month.
Tussar silk is unique. Unlike other silkworms, they don’t breed on mulberry which is the common source of food for most silkworms. Tussar silk comes from the silkworm biologically called Antheraea Paphia, which feeds on the trees in the wild forests. Hence, the reason why Tussar is referred to as wild silk.
