Traditional fabrics were woven using two different methods: Handloom and Handspun.
The handloom method involved making saree fabrics on traditional looms with the help of threads made out of raw cotton. This raw cotton was first cleaned and processed into threads, which were used to weave into a dazzling array of colours and patterns in different weights.
Handspun method was a process unto itself, which involves spinning yarn manually out of raw cotton fibres to be used on conventional looms for weaving gorgeous sarees. Essentially, it's an all-manual process for preparing thread from its original raw form to the ready-to-weave saree fabric.
