Kalamkari Silk Hand Painted Green Saree

Kalamkari Silk Hand Painted Green Saree
SKU: 2863951
Designed by Kankatala, an exotic green Kalamkari Uppada silk saree with very interesting Kalamkari depiction of earth, water and the sky, through lotus flowers, fish and devas among clouds. The creation is inspired by the Apsaras. Apsaras are said to be from the clouds and water hence one can see both clouds and water on the saree. A self zari kaddi border comes alive with an orange edge. The contrast red pallu has lotus flowers, fish and a central hand mudra - all in artistic kalamkari, along with a cream zari panel. Kalamkari is an ancient style of hand painting done on cotton or silk fabric with a tamarind pen, using natural dyes. The word Kalamkari is derived from a Persian word where ‘kalam‘ means pen and ‘kari‘ refers to craftsmanship. This art involves 23 tedious steps of dyeing, bleaching, hand painting, starching, cleaning and more. Wear this green beauty with the self running blouse for a smart, ethnic look...
